Gulfport is the second
biggest city in Mississippi. It is known as a scenic beachfront city, offering
white sand beaches, casinos, and fresh seafood. Gulfport is also known for its
diverse culture. It serves as the East Coast home of the Seabees of the US
Navy.
Gulfport
takes pride with its white sand beaches overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. These
beaches can be viewed from the Beach Boulevard (US Highway 90), and along the
highway are many beautiful places ideal for picture taking.

can do a lot of recreational activities and engage in relaxing activities as
the city is has beautiful places that are ideal for relaxation and enjoyment.
The city is the home of the Ship Island Ferry, one of the top 10 beaches in the
US. The place is a great location for surfing and picnics. The Bayou Vista Golf
Course, located at Washington Avenue, is a golf course with 18 holes. The
Island View Casino Resort, located at West Beach Boulevard, features more than
2,100 slots and 47 table games. It also offers a weekly live entertainment,
along with beer, cocktail, and wine menus.
Gulfport provides its
residents as well as its visitors with great shopping opportunities through the
various shopping outlets located within the city. One of the famous shops in
the city is the Alston's Antiques, an antique shop that features wonderful
assortment of antique collectibles, dolls, furniture, clock, primitives, and
slot machines. The Crossroads Mall, located at Crossroads Parkway, features
various retailers, including Pier One Imports, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble,
Happy Nails and Nevada Bob's Golf, and Bedding Plus. Encore Designs is the only
posh boutiques in the city, which is located at the Courthouse Road. The
boutique offers the best in labels and designers, as well as home furnishings,
ranging from antiques to the latest styles. Perry's Hair & Tanning Salon,
located one mile north of the city, offers various services such as body
waxing, body wraps, tanning beds, airbrush tanning, up-dos, massage therapy,
skin care, artificial lashes, foil highlights, hair care, hair styling, hair
cuts and nail services. It also carries a number of professional retail
products, and also holds hair shows and educational classes.
The
city is popular for its fresh seafood, including tuna, snapper, shrimp, grouper
and flounder. Gulfport is home to various Southern, Cajun as well as
International restaurants, which include the Daddy's Little Kitchen #1, Catfish
Charlie's, Lookout 49, Emeril's Gulf Coast Fish House, and Tug's Wharf Seafood
Restaurant. Drinking outlets include Larry's at the Beach, featuring regular
outside concerts; Gulfport Elks Lodge No. 978; and American Legion Post no.
119.
Gulfport also has various hotels, giving tourists a choice
on where hotels to stay depending on their preferences. Some of these hotels
include Best Western Beach View Inn, Best Western Seaway Inn, Courtyard
Gulfport, Fairfield Inn Gulfport, Holiday Inn Express, and Holiday Inn.
The
city is served by the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, located three
kilometres northeast of the downtown Gulfport. The airport has an area of 6.9
square kilometres, with two runways. It is served by various airlines,
including Skybus, Northwest Airlines, Delta, Continental Express, American
Eagle, Allegiant Air, and AirTran Airways.
